Jungmyung Kim is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Sociology. His research interests are in organizations, economic sociology, work and occupations, criminal justice, and methods. He studies how organizational policies are legitimized and practiced in various contexts. His current work investigates heterogenous logics to support diversity and inclusion policies of publicly traded corporations revealed in their public and investor relations publications using natural language processing (NLP). He is pursuing an ethnographic dissertation project to examine how police officers accomplish community policing principles and tasks in their day-to-day work.
