Luke Muentner

Luke Muentner is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Sociology. He is interested in mass incarceration, community reentry, family well-being, social policy, and poverty. At present, Luke is working on a project designing, implementing, and evaluating a community-based intervention for fathers who have recently been released from jail or prison that aims to promote successful reentry and well-being outcomes for themselves and their children. In the past, he has worked on a multi-tiered observational study with jailed parents, their children, and the children’s non-incarcerated caregivers investigating how incarceration shapes development, health, and relationships across the family system. His dissertation project is a mixed methods study that examines children’s wellbeing when parents are released from prison.
